lawyers have asked the State Revenue Minister to accord full-fledged Tehsil status to Bhilai, besides commencing the functioning of SDM office from the city. The lawyer members of Uptehsil Bhilai Adhivakta Sangharsh Samiti, Durg, Chhattisgarh, had, from time to time been raising their voice and launched a signature campaign on August 9, 2012, demanding full-fledged Tehsil status to Bhilai with set up and to start functioning of the SDM office from there. The role of former Assembly Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey was significant in the move. As Pandey is the Revenue Minister of The State at present, people and the lawyers have full faith in him that he would fulfil the long and much awaited demands of the residents of Bhilai, and would be successful in demonstrating his administrative efficiency and his attachment towards the people of Bhilai. President of Uptehsil Tehsil Sangharsh Samiti of the Tehsil Adhivakta Sangh Ashok Rai said that all their demands were public utility, so Bhilai should be given Tehsil status and the SDM Office Bhilai should be started outside the Municipal Corporation limits with full set up. The intention of the lawyers and the people desire that as the Revenue Minister should fulfil the demands immediately.
