Collector Niranjan Das has instructed Revenue and Forest department officers to launch a drive to dispose of Forest Rights related cases at the earliest.
For this, he asked them to prepare a Gram Panchayat-wise database containing details of applicants. In the day-long workshop of Revenue and Forest department officers held here for giving away the Forest Rights letter to the people of Scheduled Castes and those residing in the forest area, the Collector insisted that Forest Rights letter related cases should be verified first at Gram Panchayat-level and thereafter it should be sent to Janpad Panchayat and later to Sub-Division and District level for approval.
He said that the cases that were cancelled for some reasons should be reviewed. The Collector also instructed not to cancel the application due to technical reasons. It was also mentioned that as many as 15,997 certificates for individuals and 57 letters for community purpose have been issued. DFO Narendra Pandey asked the officials to understand their responsibility for the benefit of the people. He asked them to ensure that none of the beneficiaries is deprived of the letter.
