Language is no barrier to justice: Minister

Published on:

Inaugurating the new office complex of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal here on Saturday, Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju said language should not be a barrier for quick delivery of justice. Local language can be used, he said.

Addressing the event, he said the cases pending in the courts are a matter of        concern. But it also indicates that work was being done in the country. This is why new cases are also on the rise.

He said people should get justice quickly and in the local language so that they can understand it easily. There should be adequate provision of translators in the courts and appellate      tribunals.

Appreciating the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, he said even with limited resources, it had done a good job. There are about five lakh cases pending in the courts today. But due to appellate tribunals, there has been a significant reduction.

Union Minister of State for Law and Justice S.P. Singh Baghel also addressed the event.
