Every family of landless agricultural labourers will get Rs 6,000 as annual grant under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana in Chhattisgarh, the first state in the country to implement such a scheme.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said registration for the scheme began on Wednesday and will continue till November 30. More than 10 lakh landless agricultural labourers will benefit.
The money will be deposited directly into their bank account, an official statement quoted him as saying while addressing the launch of the registration process of the scheme.
The money will save the landless workers from the vicious cycle of debt during economic crises, Baghel said. It will also give an impetus to the rural economy.
The head of the family must submit the application to the Secretary, Gram panchayat, with a photocopy of Aadhar card and bank passbook and also provide his mobile number.
