landless agri labourers to get jobs : Minister

Published on:

The landless agricultural labourers dependent on any agricultural land being acquired under the proposed ‘land Acquisition Bill 2013’ have been entailed to get compensations in the Bill. One family member from the affected labourer family will be provided job, said State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Prem Prakash Pandey while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

According to amendments made in new land Acquisition Bill, those farmers whose lands are being acquired will also get compensation, the Minister told reporters while elaborating the provisions made in the proposed bill.

“The other major amendment made in Act is that in case of non-use of land within 5 years of the acquisition made by a business house, the land will be either returned to the concerned land owner or shall be deposited in Government’s land bank”, the Minister Pandey said.

However, if the industrial house in its project report mentions commissioning of project in 7 years, then they will be given the demanded time, he added. The Minister said that in case of land acquisition by any private company, prior approval of 80 percent families being affected by the acquisition will be required. However in case of acquisition by Government approval of 70 per cent families being affected will be needed.

The land Acquisition Bill will not be applicable in case of acquisition for National Security and project related to defense production; rural infrastructure including electrification; affordable housing; industrial corridors, and infrastructure projects including Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects where the Government owns the land, he said.
