The State Government has decided to enhance security cover for Congress MlA from Konta, Kawasi lakhma — the witness of the Maoist attack on Congress convoy at Darbha ghati in Bastar on May 25. The Government has already started reviewing the various aspects of security cover required for lakhma besides issuing guidelines for ensuring security of all the other sitting MlAs, highly placed official sources here informed.
Presently, the Congress MlA has been protected by two PSOs which is the usual norm for providing security for all other sitting MlAs.
lakhma was present in the same vehicle on the day of the attack by the Maoists in which State Congress President Nand Kumar Patel and son Dinesh Patel were travelling who were later killed by the insurgents.The insurgents had spared lakhma and his PSO and killed Patel and his son.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) Ramniwas had a meeting with leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Assembly Ravindra Choubey on Monday and had a discussion on providing security cover to the legislators.
