lac worm keeping training is being imparted to the villagers in the newly constituted Gariaband district. Under the lac development project, the district Vanopaj Sahkari Samiti Udanti forest division Gariyaband has organised lac worm keeping training camp at village Dhruvagudi and Boirgaon, where 160 villagers have been made aware of the method of lac keeping and its benefits.
During the training, the beneficiaries were informed about the selection of seed and tree for lac keeping, trimming of plants, lac seed and its quality, sapling utilised for lac keeping etc. Detailed information has been given to the villagers regarding separation of funki lac after 21 days of coming out of young worm out of the beehan lac, spraying of medicine for crop protection and utilisation of lac crop etc.
The lac keeping farmers were informed that they would get Rs 7,000 annually from one Kusum tree on cultivation lac as per scientific method.lac worms are cultivated on Kusum, Ber and Semiyalata trees in Gariaband district.
looking to the benefits from lac keeping the district Vanopaj Sahkari Samiti Udanti has been promoting more and more beneficiaries for lac keeping. So far, about 900 beneficiaries have been imparted training for lac keeping through scientific method.
