After two days break, Kirandul-Waltair Passenger train resumed its service on Monday again bringing much respite for the devotees willing to participate in Bastar Dussehra celebrated at Jagdalpur.
Notably, 22 days back in Malkangiri district of Odisha bordering Chhattisgarh 13 Maoists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces which reportedly included some top cadre of the Rebels.
In protest of the killings the Maoists had called for Bharat Bandh on October 5 due to which the lone passenger train running on K K line between Waltair and Kirandul was not sent to Kirandul fearing violence during the bandh. However as the bandh passed off peacefully, the train resumed its services.
According to information last year too the services of this train was suspended between October 1 and 8 on the call of Maoists due to which people living in South Bastar areas had difficulty to participate in Dussehra.
However, this time as the train resumed normal service in the beginning of Dussehra large number of people are expected to come to Jagdalpur during the festival. Jagdalpur railway station incharge D KNayak said that as the passenger train resumed services in time there was great enthusiasm among people.
