State Congress vice-president and former Member of Parliament PR Khunte has demanded that the State Government declare Chhattisgarh ‘drought-affected’.
In a statement, Khunte demanded from the Government to analyse the crop situation and declare the State drought affected immediately.
To bring relief to the drought affected farmers, the Government should enforce drought legislation and distribute compensation for the crop and also insurance, he demanded.loans of the drought affected farmers should also be waived off, he said.
Khunte also demanded to prevent the exodus of farmers and said that the ‘Food for Work’ scheme and Rozgar Guarantee scheme must be implemented in the State.
