The Chhattisgarh wants to clean the Kharun river, all the way from the point of its origin to where it merges with the Mahanadi.
At a meeting held on Monday, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain asked officials to prepare a work plan for the campaign.
The special drive will follow the guidelines in the Jal Jiwan Mission. An awareness drive among the villagers should also be conducted, he said.
Jain said the work plan should encourage construction of dyke-walls to increase the ground water level.
