Khanuja death: Cong seeks impartial probe

Published on:

A team of the Opposition Congress led by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee chief Bhupesh Baghel and accompanied by a forensic expert on Sunday inspected the incident site where Rinku Khanuja was found dead.

Baghel and other Congress leaders also met the family members of Khanuja at their residence and enquired about the matter in details.

Khanuja, an accused in alleged Sex CD row involving a senior Minister of Chhattisgarh Government, was found dead recently after CBI grilled him for his alleged involvement in the scandal. Police have termed his death “a case of suicide”.

Baghel later talking to media persons claimed that during the inspection he found that the death of Rinku Khanuja didn’t appear to be Rs a case of suicide’.

Rs Rs The ceiling was of so low in height that it was impossible to commit suicide there,’’ Baghel said. The forensic team which accompanied the Congress team also said that prima facie the incident doesn’t seems to be a case of suicide. Meanwhile, the team will submit its report in a couple of days.

Baghel also blamed that the family members of Rinku were frightened and had levelled serious allegation on police and CBI. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter a high level probe must be ordered, he demanded.

Citing the talks with the family members of Rinku, Baghel said he was informed that the day Rinku delayed reaching to CBI, they immediately approach their residence to take him with they but on the day incident happened the CBI didn’t did this, the family members had alleged.

Wife of Rinku also alleged that the CBI misguided him when she called them enquiring about Rinku. “They said Rinku was with them while talking on telephone but when I approached there when he didn’t reach home till late evening, the CBI officials denied that Rinku was them”, she blamed.

Baghel later also accused the police of tampering with evidence.  Rs Rs Neither the Police sealed the spot nor it collected any substantial proof,’’ he said. He further demanded a high level probe by an independent agency into the matter so that the truth may come to public domain.
