At the Police Welfare Committee and Advisory Council held at police headquarters, Naya Raipur on Saturday, many key decisions have been taken.
The meeting discussed various issues for more than three hours on various points mainly for police personnel and their family members. After the recent strikes and agitations by the family members of police personnel, the long pending demands and overall situation prevailing in the forces were being accessed through various discussions and decisions.
This meeting was also part of it. According to higher police officials, the meeting decided to hike the facilities and assistance funds.
As per the decision taken, the education assistance amount provided to the family members of police personnel has been hiked from Rs 3000 to Rs 25,000. Soon, the decision would be implemented. The addition to it earlier the assistance was being extended to only one child of any family, now it has been extended to the second child of the police personnel. The police personnel would get two community centres, one at Bilaspur and Durg, where they can organise different programmes.
Similarly, the Philanthropy Fund has been doubled. At present during the general death of any police personnel, an amount of Rs 50,000 was given provided to the family which has now been hiked to Rs 1 lakh.
‘Shahid Samman Nidhi’ has also been doubled, which has been hiked from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. Similarly, the natural calamity and diseases crises fund amount has also been hiked from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1 lakh.The Superintendent of Police, Commandant and Inspector General of Police Welfare Fund have also been hiked. SP Fund has been raised to Rs 1 lakh and IG fund to Rs 2.50 lakh.
