Chhattisgarh Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe welfare minister Kedar Kashyap inspected the Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium, Budhatalab, Raipur for the event to mark the ‘International Day for World's Indigenous People's’ scheduled on August 9.
Chief Minister Raman Singh will be chief guest of the function scheduled to start at 10.00 am. Union Minister of state for steel Vishnudev Sai would preside over while Union Tribal affairs minister Jual Oram would be special guest.
Minister reviewing the preparation directed the departmental officers and employees to make the programme a success. Tribal affairs department, Government of Chhattisgarh is organising the event where tribal community traditions and culture would be highlighted.
Departmental minister said that United Nations Organisation in year 1994, keeping the importance of tribal community in world, to promote education, health issues, poverty and unemployment eradication along with bringing them to mainstream had declared August 9 as ‘International Day for World's Indigenous People's’. This was also to provide self-respect and confidence among the tribal community members for which a proposal was passed.
He adds, Every year world over on the day, events are organised to mark the day. At Raipur, the different tribal community dancers’ team would be presenting their specific dance forms to exhibit their tribal culture. Stalls would also be put on different projects. Scheduled Tribe assistance and their social, economical development related schemes booklet and brochure would be distributed.
Meritorious students in sector of education, sports and others, community members having gone remarkable service in social sector, traditional treatment system among others would be felicitated. Chhattisgarh State Scheduled Tribe Commission chairman G R Rana, vice chairman Vikas Markam, Chhattisgarh State Scout and Guides State Chief Commissioner Gajendra Yadav among other departmental officers were present.
