Kashmir invites domestic tourists

Published on:

Kashmir is open to domestic tourism as tourists are unable to travel abroad due to Covid-19 restrictions, Tourism Kashmir's Assistant Director Dr. Javid-ur-Rehman said on Saturday.

Several festivals have been lined up like the Almond Bloom festival in March, Tulip Festival in the first week of April and a grand Houseboat festival for summer.

The Amarnath Yatra will last from June 26 to August 22, he said.

Addressing the media on a ‘Road Show’ here, Dr Javid said Jammu and Kashmir can be very good destinations for domestic tourists. It is available for budgeted as well as high-end tourists.

The state has controlled its Covid's spread, he pointed out.

Now with tunnel roads connecting different parts of Kashmir, the travelling time by road has also been reduced by around 4-5 hours, he added.

Domestic Tour Operators Association (Kashmir) President Hamid Wangnoo and C.B. Kaul, Deputy Manager, JKTDC, urged people of Chhattisgarh to avail special seasonal discounts.
