Senior Congress leader and niece of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Karuna Shukla on Tuesday filed nomination papers in Rajnandgaon.
Significantly, Karuna Shukla is contesting against Chief Minister Raman Singh from the Rajnandgaon Assembly seat.
Accompanied by a large number of district-level leaders of the party, she filed her nomination. Incidentally, senior State-level leaders of the Congress party were absent during her nomination filing as they were all in the national capital to attend a crucial meeting related to election process.
Along with Karuna, five other Congress candidates from various constituencies of the Rajnandgaon district also filed the nomination papers. All the candidates including Karuna reached the District Electoral Office at Rajnandgaon in the form of a rally.
