Kanwar should apologise for his 'stripping' statement: Congress

Published on:

Once again Home Minister of the state Nanki Ram Kanwar has proved his nonchalance towards the heinous crime like stripping (Cheerharan) said Congress and condemned him (Kanwar) for his statement in which  the home minister had allegedly said that ‘it is human tendency and there is nothing  new in it and Cheerharan are happening since ancient times.’

State Congress party spokesperson Shushil Anand Shukla in a press statement released on Friday said Kanwar should apologise for his highly objectionable and condemnable statement.

Kanwar is trying to safeguard the failure of police and state government for preventing rapes in state by stating that ‘stripping’ is a human tendency and have been happening since time immemorial.

Perhaps he has forgotten that epics too have an example when stripping become the cause of the destruction of entire Kuru Empire, Shukla stated.

Shukla further said a person who is constitutionally responsible for the safety of the society and maintaining law and order of the state is delivering this kind of statement.

He is not only running away from his responsibility but is also encouraging crime. Shukla pointed out that in past he (Kanwar) had allegedly stated that ‘Yagayn-Havan’ should be performed to improve the condition of the women in society.

The party spokesperson further charged that that ‘to ire is human’ and wrong statements could be overlooked once or twice but repeating same kind of mistake specially for women shows that the mentality of home minister is wrong.
