Announcing that his party would fight the Assembly polls alone in all 81 seats of the State, Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (P) chief and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi promised for upliftment and inclusive growth of tribal population, if his party comes to power in the forthcoming Assembly election here on Monday.
Blaming that the BJP, Congress, AJSU and JMM were responsible for slow pace of development Marandi said, “Jharkhand witnessed very slow progress which was hindered since its inception”. Taking a dig on domicile issues, Marandi demanded to implement Bihar’s domicile policy (according to 1982) in Jharkhand.
It is worth mentioning that Jharkhand was carved out in the year 2000 for the holistic development of the tribes, but they are still left in lurch in their own State. Jharkhand is looking back at a trail of broken promises, political instability and deep-rooted corruption as it completes more than a decade. The State has always made news for the wrong reasons, instability and corruption.
However, years after its creation, Jharkhand has witnessed the fading of the delusional hype over tribal welfare. Rather, the vulnerability of the tribal has increased after the formation of Jharkhand.
The paradox is that all Chief Ministers of Jharkhand were tribal and despite being tribal, little has been done for the development of tribal population. Jharkhand has failed to see development despite having 40 percent of India’s mines and minerals. Growth in Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh - the other two States created at the same year - has been much faster. Jharkhand has become a fertile ground for scams. The nexus of politicians, bureaucrats and contractors are virtually plundering the State. Time and need demands a stable Government in Jharkhand for inclusive growth.
