In view of the rapid rise in the number of juvenile offenders in the district, the Chhattisgarh Government has accorded approval for the construction of a Juvenile Home in Korba district.In meeting held here, the Juvenile Justice Board had agreed to construct the Juvenile Home on its own premises and for that the Board has been preparing a proposal and soon would send it to the State Government for approval.
The number of juvenile offence cases pending with the Juvenile Justice Board in the year 2014-15 was 228, which has increased to 248 till May this year. About one dozen juvenile offenders have been sent to Bilaspur Juvenile Home.Because of this the police have to send the offenders to Bilaspur Juvenile Centre and bring them back for hearing at the Juvenile Justice Board.
