Noted Bollywood actor Om Puri said on Saturday that jungles were under severe attack and he realised it after travelling to forested areas in Africa and various parts of India in recent years.
Om Puri who was in Raipur for participating in a two-day long wildlife film festival, told news persons at a Press conference, “we all know that trees are under attack in large parts of the country without any reason and requirement and this tendency must be stopped.”He, however, rued that no one is working for forests’ conservation.
Puri stressed that for saving jungle use of woods should be restricted. Speaking over scenario of wildlife films in India he said, there are committed people who are making wildlife films however these films do not get a broad platform and audience as compared to mainstream Cinema.“Doordarshan is generally a good platform for these kind of films, however, if Doordarshan also gets into broadcasting of ‘Sas-Bahu’ kind of serials then what could be the fate of wildlife films is easily understandable,’’ the actor remarked.
