JPC probe needed in Rafale aircraft deal: Ajay Maken

Published on:

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Ajay Maken on Thursday charged that the Central Government provided wrong information to the Supreme Court which resulted in dismissal of the case regarding alleged corruption in Rafale aircraft deal.

Addressing a press conference at State Congress office Rajiv Bhawan here, Maken further demanded Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the matter.

The apex court had not ruled that corruption did not happen in the deal and has only said that the matter does not come under its jurisdiction to decide over the case, Maken said.

He further said that if Congress party comes to power at Centre after Lok Sabha elections, the Rafale aircraft deal of the BJP-led NDA regime would be cancelled without any delay.

The deal would be done as per the clauses that were in the agreement made during the erstwhile United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in the year 2012, he added.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was also present during the press conference.
