Journalism students must maintain media credibility

Students of Journalism should also contribute towards uplifting and maintaining the credibility of Media, stated Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication (KTUJM) Prof Mansingh Parmar.  Dr Parmar said that there has been degradation of values in all segments of the democratic set-ups and hence, it is the responsibility of the media professionals to restrict this degradation.
The Vice Chancellor was addressing the students during the Orientation Programme here on Friday. “It is highly important to adhere to the ethics of journalism and follow them. Also, a Mass Communication student must have a sound knowledge on the theoretical aspects of the media education,” Dr Parmar said.
He felt that the youngsters should follow the words of lord Krishna highlighted in Bhagvad Gita, which are fearlessness, truth and knowledge.
The Vice Chancellor said there are plenty of opportunities available for Mass Media and Communication students across the business and professional verticals. However, what is needed is sound knowledge and expertise in the subject to get the job. He called upon the students to possess ‘multi-tasking’ skills to enhance their employability.
Dr Parmar informed students that the University is gearing up for the visit of  National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team to the campus. The main objective behind the visit is to get a better grading so that a better standing at the national-level for the University could be achieved, he said.
