The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and South East Central Railway (SECR), Raipur Division will jointly launch an extensive campaign to ensure cleanliness and check spread of filth on and near Railway tracks between Raipur and Sarona stations.
An agreement in this connection was reached during an inspection jointly conducted by SECR Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Raipur, Rahul Gautam, Raipur District Collector Thakur Ram Singh and RMC Commissioner Saransh Mittar.
In a move aimed at making Raipur as ‘Smart City’, officials of RMC and Railways on Thursday took stock of cleanliness work on tracks and areas close to them by travelling from Raipur to Sarona Railway station in a special Saloon train. As per information received, the Railway administration along with RMC’s teams from zone-1, 2, 5, 7 and 8 would be launching a massive cleanliness drive from January 1, 2016.
Under this campaign, the Railways and RMC would also take a series of steps for creating awareness among the people residing near Railway tracks for maintaining cleanliness in the areas by avoiding the practice of dumping garbage and defecating on side of Railway tracks.
During the course of inspection, DRM Rahul Gautam and RMC Commissioner Saransh Mittar gave specific directives to their officials for ensuring cleanliness near Railway tracks, particularly passing near residential areas including Ram Nagar, Samta Colony, Choubey Colony, Gudhiyari and others.
