Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s decision to not to fight the next lok Sabha election has created a turmoil in the Congress. However, Jogi said that he wanted to give attention to the entire State, but if he fights the election, he would be centred at one place.

While discussing, Jogi said that the situation in the State was challenging. He publicly declared not to fight the election, but it was being linked with the internal politics of the Congress. According to party sources, Jogi is not happy with the appointment of Bhupesh Patel as the State president of the party. In the Congress’ politics, Baghel is considered the arch-rival of Jogi.

In Delhi, the supporters of Jogi have been lobbying for the leader of Opposition post. As such, the sudden appointment of the State president, the internal politics of the Congress has fanned the fire. Some sources in the party believe that the internal bickering could be increased, if the appointment of the leader of the Opposition was not the choice of the former Chief Minister.

The names of MlAs Ramdayal Uike and Amarjeet Bhagat from the former Chief Minister’s faction have been come to the fore for the post of the leader of the Opposition. This faction has been campaigning to make a tribal leader as the leader of Opposition.

Besides, former Minister Satyanarayan Sharma and MlA from Ambikapur TS Singhdeo were also in the run for the leader of Opposition post. If selection would be made from the tribal class, this faction could forward the name of Khelsai Singh. The high command may send an observer for the selection of the leader of Opposition by December 25. The observer would hold discussion with the MlAs.
