Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi on Wednesday hit back at Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, saying if the BJP leader is truly his friend then why is he campaigning in Marwahi assembly seat where he is locked in a three-way fight against the BJP and the Congress.
Jogi had deserted Congress in 2016 and floated his own party Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) to make the 90-member state assembly polls in the mineral-rich state a triangular contest.
Jogi’s party has tied up with Mayawati’s BSP in this election.
While campaigning in Jogi’s home turf Marwahi in Bilaspur district, Rajnath Singh on Wednesday asked voters to secure victory for the BJP candidate but he termed Jogi’a friend who is in trouble’.
Reacting to the comment, Jogi said “if he (Rajnath) is a friend of mine then why was he addressing a public meeting in Marwahi against me’’. Jogi also responded to his ‘trouble’ jibe and added, “the entire nation is watching who is in trouble.’’
Rajnath Singh had also termed Jogi’s party, a B-team of Congress.
