Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi has said that he had objection over stage co-ordination by a non-tribal person while clarifying over his arguments with State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel during party’s national vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Madanpur in Raigarh district.
He was addressing a press conference at his residence here on Wednesday.Notably, heated argument had taken place between both the leaders during a public meeting in presence of Rahul Gandhi at Madanpur. The former Chief Minister was replying to the media reports published over the arguments. Detailing about the Madanpur incident, he informed that Bhupesh Baghel had called Director of an NGO who was a non-tribal person hailing from Bihar for co-ordinating the proceedings on stage.
“I did not find it appropriate as the Choupal was called for Tribal people in a dense tribal region where one could not find non-tribal person. The issue of Choupal was Tribal lands being taken by Adani Group and for coordinating that programme, we had to call someone from Bihar who does not have knowledge about Madanpur,” he said adding ‘ I then suggested that a local MlA or any other tribal person could come up and co-ordinate the programme.”
“Bhupesh Baghel seemed to be hurt by my comments and said that because of you the programme has been interrupted. Rahul Gandhi then signalled BK Hariprasad who came and pacified Baghel and later on my proposal was accepted,” Jogi told reporters.
