Former chief minister and patron of Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) Ajit Jogi on Saturday sought 27% reservation for the other backward communities (OBCs) of Chhattisgarh, who comprises more than 50% of the state’s population. Talking to media persons, Jogi said in Madhya Pradesh there is 27% reservation for OBCs. To justify his demand, he pointed out that CM, Speaker, MLAs, maximum ministers in the state are from OBCs. Appreciating the ‘Narva, Garuva, Ghurva aur Baari’ scheme he raised doubt over implementation which will lead to its failure like the jatropha scheme of former BJP government. Marwahi MLA Jogi said the condition of weavers in the state is critical and demanded that all the procurement of cloths in government departments should be made from the state’s weavers, which will help to increase production. State’s handloom products can also be developed as a major brand for which government should take steps.

He also sought compensation of Rs 1 crore each for nearest kin of all the victims of custodial death.
