Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi on Saturday extended support to Asmita Manch which staged a daylong demonstration against an alleged anti-farmer policy of Chhattisgarh’s BJP Government which recently decided to procure only 10 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers.
Joining the protest, the former Chief Minister Jogi announced that Congress had always supported the farmers and the party would take the farmers’ fight to streets to pressurise State Government to procure 100 percent paddy production from the farmers.
Jogi reiterated that despite Congress is not in power, it will not leave any stones unturned to ensure justice for farmers. He advised the BJP Government to urgently roll back its decision regarding paddy purchase ceiling.
Addressing the protesters here at kachheri chowk, Vinod Chandrakar, convener of Asmita Manch said farmers are fully aware of their rights and Congress would extend all possible support against State Government’s autocratic decision.
