Just a day before the first anniversary of Maoist attack on the Congress convoy at Jeeram valley in Bastar on Sunday ( May 25), State Congress legislative Party (ClP) leader TS Singhdeo on Saturday said that the incident was an outcome of administrative lapses.

In a statement issued from las Vegas (USA), Singhdeo, who is currently in the United States said that the ruling BJP Government did not provide sufficient security to the Congress leaders despite being aware of the risks involved in the insurgency infested region such as Sukma district.

“The State Government had information about probable Maoist attack on the Congress leaders,” he alleged.

The ClP leader said that even after a year of the incident, the questions raised by the Congress party on the security provided to the Congress leaders who were killed in Jeeram valley are still relevant.

“Why sufficient security was not provided to the convoyIJ Who did not provide the securityIJ On whose instructions the security was not provided to the leaders, asked Singhdeo.

He said that the State Government had initiated a judicial inquiry after the incident and its report was expected within three months . However even after a year, the report is yet to be received.

“The points of reference in the investigation made by the State Government are not relevant which were aimed at diverting the same from its prime objective,”alleged Singhdeo.

He condemned the incident and said that such incidents are a slur on the society.

The ClP leader paid tributes to the leaders including Vidya Charan Shukla, Nand Kumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudliyar, Yogendra Sharma and party workers besides security personnel killed in the attack. “The loss of lives of great leaders can not be compensated but their sacrifice will always provide strength and inspiration to fight against insurgency,” he said .
