The grip of jaundice on Raipur city has loosened drastically, Health Department officials said here on Monday.
“Currently there are only 64 jaundice patients in different hospitals around the city. Also, 61 patients were discharged after they fully recovered,” Dr Akhilesh Tripathi from the Health Department said.
"We have organized 227 camps for searching jaundice patients. And health workers have reached out to 24,412 households for testing people at risk, he said.
Of the 3,613 patients, only 666 were found infected with Hepatitis virus, he said, adding that three persons had died due to jaundice.
People living in jaundice-affected areas are being advised to take boiled water or use chlorine tablets to purify the water. Chlorine tablets are being given free of cost in the affected areas.
Dr Tripathi said that if anyone displays symptoms like yellowness in eye, yellowness in urine, vomiting or weakness, then they should contact doctors. They should drink boiled water or water treated with chlorine, and avoid stale or half cooked food, he said.
