The jailer of Sub-jail Sakti, Jl Purena has been suspended on charges of economic irregularities, informed Director General (DG) Jail Girdhari Nayak on Saturday.
“He was suspended after he failed to give convincing reply about Rs2.5 lakh extra found deposited in jail chest,” the DG Jail said told The Pioneer. For maintaining daily business of jail, money is deposited in a chest (safe). During a sudden inspection carried out in Sakti Jail it was found that Rs2.5 lakh extra were deposited in it. When jailer Purena was questioned about the source of money he failed to explain, DG Nayak mentioned.
