Jail admin refuses Baghel’s meeting with Cong leaders

A Congress party delegation led by Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and Member of Parliament from Durg, Tamradhwaj Sahu and former State Minister Satyanarayan Sharma on Wednesday evening tried to meet Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) Chief Bhupesh Baghel in Central Jail, Raipur but the Jail administration denied them permission.

“Even though time was allotted to them to meet the CGPCC Chief when they approached the Jail, the Jail administration refused meeting with Baghel in jail who is on judicial remand. The reason behind the refusal was said to be security reasons”, said a CGPCC spokesperson.

Notably, Baghel was to be persuaded to take bail and fight for the rights of people of Chhattisgarh, he said.

Baghel was to be apprised of the views of Congress high command to file for bail application immediately.

The legal procedures also had to be completed so that the bail application could be submitted in the special CBI court on Thursday but it could not happen, the Spokesperson said.

Later, Satyanarayan Sharma while talking to media persons in the Jail premises said the government didn’t want completion of legal process for the release of Baghel and that is why it is deliberately delaying the meeting.

Chairman of Media Wing of CGPCC Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said the party is going to stage a state-wide and district-level ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation on Thursday in protest against the detainment of Baghel.
