Medical college Jagdalpur is now slowly attaining status of mega referral hospital, after five years of establishment. In this affiliated hospital to the college, required staff is yet to be appointed, no induction process has started for the same till date. Seven districts of Bastar region which is considered a hot bed of Maoists since late 1980s, are eying for the respite for years.
Thousands of people who dwell in the region have pinned their hope for better medical facilities are now be saddened with the indolent behaviour of the concerned authorities. Even required equipments are not in place yet, and had they been there, then technicians to handle and operators are yet to be appointed. Mammoth motives with which it was built is not met. It is unfortunate that more than 100 posts are still vacant.
So far staff nurses are concerned, only 96 are working against 205 posts sanctioned for the hospital. So is the case of office staff where assistant grade-2 and pharmacist are needed but their 8 and 5 posts are laying vacant respectively. Total three posts for assistant nursing superintendents, 10 posts of paramedics and 5 for radiologists are also to be filled.
