With an aim to ensure overall development of Kalahandi, a Jana Jagaran Abhiyan and Bikas Yatra have been launched in the district. At an inaugural meeting, held under the chairmanship of Abhiyan chief advisor and retired noted educationist Dr Akshay Kumar Nanda, chief guest Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) Rashtriya Sangathak Kashmiri lal Ji said development of Kalahandi is the ultimate development of the State.
Earlier, a torchlight procession led by Abhiyan convenor Kaishab Bihari was taken out from Gundicha temple to Gandhi Chowk taking up a seven-point charter of demands. The demands include establishment of a medical university in the district after preserving herbs and developing research on Ayurved, an agriculture science centre for increasing production of rice and vegetables, a university in the district for development of education, employment to local youths in the industrial plants in the district, etc.
