Naxalites on Sunday afternoon blasted a bridge in Oudhi area, about 160-km away from the district headquarters. At the time of the blast an ITBP Jawan was crossing over the bridge and he suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Notably, polling will be held in the six assembly constituencies of Rajnandgaon district on Monday along with seats of Bastar divisions. For the security of the polling booths and the polling teams, heavy force has been deployed in the area.
According to reports, the insurgents blasted the bridge near the Bagdongri polling centre which is about 12-km away from Oudhi area. To reach Bagdongri village, one has to cross the small bridge built over a nullah. Naxalites targeted the bridge in their bid to ambush the security forces as well as the polling teams expected to cross the bridge.
At 3 pm on Sunday, a personnel of ITBP was crossing over the bridge to reach the village. At that time, the Naxalites blasted the bridge and the personnel received minor injuries in the blast.
