Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi has directed officials to immediately wind up Crime Branch and Special Investigation Cell related to economic offences in all districts of the State with immediate effect.
The Crime Branch had been closed as people did not have a positive perception about the branch and complaints were being received from citizens against the officers and employees of the Branch, an official press release issued here informed.
The DGP had directed all the SPs to further inform the officers and employees of the concerned branches being closed to be present in concerned police stations and reserved centers for duty.
Meanwhile, the DGP met family members of about 50 police officers and employees at his office in Police Headquarters and heard their grievances while directing officials to redress their grievances on Friday.
It may also be recalled that while addressing a press conference at Police Head Quarters (PHQ) on December 24 this year, the DGP after assuming charge had assured that in a bid to ascertain clean image of state police, the Department will make efforts to end corruption He had further announced that the state police was going to undertake a major police reform measure.
