Congress member Amarjeet Bhagat on Wednesday said in the Chhattisgarh Assembly that the Bhupesh Baghel Government in the State is a 'Farmer's Government'.
Participating in the debate during the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, he said that only that person can take favourable decision for farmers who himself had been a farmer.
"No farmer commits suicide just like that. A farmer commits suicide when his crop gets destroyed, is in debt or a notice comes from Tehsildar or bank for loan recovery", he said.
The government has taken the decision to waive loans of farmers and had also more than Rs 1248 crore of three lakh farmers which were linked during paddy procurement to loans waived, Bhagat said.
He said that the previous government by announcing CBI inquiry into the Jheeram vallery massacre only did a formality. This was the mistake of the previous government which should not be repeated in the State.
Bhagat said that no charge-sheet was filed in the Jheeram valley massacre case and would like to thank Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for raising the issue. I hope that with impartial inquiry the guilty will be punished.
It was also a historic decision to return land of farmers given for Tata Steel project in Bastar, he said.
