The Chhattisgarh BJP on Thursday asked the government to issue a White Paper on the rapes that have taken place in the state and the action taken by the authorities.
State BJP President Vishnudeo Sai also demanded a judicial probe in the Keshkal incident and a Judicial Commission to probe all the incidents in the last 20 months in the state.
The government should establish fast-track courts to deal with such cases. The government should provide compensation to all the victims, a job and expedite the police investigation in these cases.
Addressing the media, Sai said that as per the details submitted in the state Assembly, in the 13 months since Congress took power, 2,074 cases of rape were registered. It means one rape is being reported in Chhattisgarh every four hours.
He pointed out state Congress leaders are concerned over the rape at Hathras in Uttar Pradesh but termed rapes in the state as ‘minor’.
Citing one incident in Jashpur, he said a minor girl committed suicide after being raped by a Congress public representative. When the BJP raised the issue, the accused even cut down the tree on which girl committed suicide.
A White Paper is being sought as the Congress is adopting double standards, one inside the state and another outside, Sai added.
