The Chhattisgarh government on Friday urged industries and investors across the country to invest in the mining sector in the state, citing its high value minerals.
Representatives of mining-related public enterprises and private companies gathered at a conference organized by the Department of Mineral Resources and Directorate of Geology and Mining.
The conference saw extensive discussions on mineral resources and their immense possibilities in Chhattisgarh.
The conference was told that high-value minerals like rare earth elements, lithium and gold were available in abundance in Chhattisgarh. The mining and extraction of these resources will provide employment to large numbers as well as generate revenue.
The Director of Mineral Resources Department and Directorate of Geology and Mining, J.P. Maurya, said a cell will be formed soon through which the investors will be told about the different mineral resources and future prospects of mining processes in Chhattisgarh.
“Chhattisgarh is poised to play the role of a leading state in ‘Vision 2047’ and we are moving towards developing mineral potential in key areas. Our priority is to assess the availability and quantity of high value minerals like lithium, tin, gold, copper, nickel and diamond using the latest technology”, he said. Maurya also said that for the first time in the country, blocks of minerals have been allotted to six private agencies for exploration in Chhattisgarh.
In the past, more than 100 potential mineral blocks have been identified on the basis of exploration done by government agencies in Chhattisgarh.
