An injured tigress caught in the Tiger Reserve Achanakmar forest of Chhattisgarh will not be released in the wild.
This decision was taken by the Treatment Management Committee considering the tiger's age and health. It needs regular veterinary support.
The Chhattisgarh Forest and Climate Change Department constituted a seven-member panel under the chairmanship of Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) S.K. Jagdishan.
The tigress was reported injured in the Achanakmar forest range on June 7, 2021. It was rescued and brought to Kanan Pendari in Bilaspur for treatment. An operation was conducted on June 8.
On its rear left leg, the animal has progressive osteoarthritis.
