The Bharatiya Janata Party was not able to hold its election committee meeting allegedly due to increasing dissidence, insiders said.
The party may constitute a new panel or go for the existing one only after due consultation with its parliament members, they said. The party reportedly had planned to hold the meeting on Oct 10 but no such thing happened.
The number people aspiring for party tickets were on rise on every passing day. They were making beeline every day at the party office and were meeting state in charge J.P.Nadda and national joint secretary of the party Saudan Singh.
They were also raising slogans against existing legislators and demanding their replacements. Despite increasing pressure nobody in the party was in a position to disclose when it is going to hold the election committee meeting.
Those at the helm of affairs in the party are also not able to disclose if the party is going to form a new committee or the existing one would continue its work.
Sources said the party observers already prepared a list of all aspirants and submitted it in the party office. The state in charge and other senior party functionaries have already started holding discussions with the parliament members to shortlist the candidates.
The party had called Rajya Sabha member Nand kumar Sai but he could not come due to some of his pressing engagements. Similarly former union minister Ramesh Bais on Thursday visited the party office and held discussions with senior party official.
State BJP president Ramsevak Paikra said he would be reaching Raipur soon and the date to hold the meeting of the election committee would be decided after due consultation with different party leaders.
