The anti-encroachment squad of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Monday launched a drive to remove illegal structures erected in Zone 4 of the city.
Following directives of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) Commissioner, Avneesh Kumar Sharan, the Zone Commissioner, Vasudev Ram Chouhan led the squad to free encroachment from about 1000 sq ft area in Shastri Bazaar to pave a way for developing a ‘Sulabh Sochalaya’ here.
The squad also removed about 30 fruit-sellers occupying space alongside the road near Evergreen Chowk and affecting the traffic.
The squad faced some resistance from the fruit-sellers but it did not stop the drive. The squad also seized as many as 5 handcarts from the spot.
