A unique national level speech event Parkraamann 2015 was held at IIM Raipur, officials said on Thursday.
During the competition, participants were given the task of negotiating with a venture capitalist for their firm’s business expansion. The event was conducted by PROvakta, the public speaking club of IIM Raipur.
Officials from IIM Raipur informed that it was an innovative event where participants were asked to provide their own pitch, as per the cases provided to them. The aim of the event was to give a chance to the participants to feel what a CEO does while pitching for funds for their company, giving them a chance to test their communication skills. The participants were judged on their oration and how well they molded the situation into their own way.
More than 120 students had registered for the event from all across the country, out of which 40 participants were able to deliver and submit videos. They emulated situation of some famous CEOs and pitched for some epic deals with venture capitalists.
Among the intense competition, it was Team "Dynamic Duo" of Great lakes Institute of Management, Chennai that bagged the first place. The runner-up was Team "Torchbearers" of IIM Amritsar. The competition had prizes of Rs 7500/- for the winners. The Team "Adbhut" of IIM Raipur was highly appreciated for its efforts.
Professor Mukesh Kumar Jha of IIM Raipur, who guided the team, said, “Parkraamann yet another event by PROvakta, was conceptualized in order to provide the management students across the country an opportunity to get into the shoes of young CEOs and face one of the biggest challenges they usually come across.
