IIM Raipur collaborates with IIM Bangalore for doctoral students

As an attempt to develop research based culture in management studies IIM Raipur has taken the initiative of sending students pursuing Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) to Indian Institute of Management Bangalore to attend advanced courses in research. As a senior research institute IIM Bangalore is known for its academic rigour, highest quality research and excellence over decades.

As per official information received from IIM Raipur, the students of IIM Raipur will be studying advanced courses in the perspective area of research at IIM Bangalore. While the students have already studied the basic required courses in their respective areas, this opportunity will provide them platform to gain insights into some advanced specialized courses in their areas of research. Another unique feature of this initiative is the kind of leverage it will give to the research scholars from the institute in terms of learning which comes from sharing each other’s ideas apart from the theories learnt in within the walls of classrooms. Such an approach will create a truly enriching learning environment without compromising on the required rigour needed for the course, officials said.

IIM Raipur encourages and promotes inter-disciplinary and intra-disciplinary research in emerging areas. This is because it firmly believes in fostering research based culture.  With this motive the Institute has launched its first Fellowship Program in Management (FPM) in the academic year 2012-2013 so early in its life cycle.

FPM at IIM Raipur is a full-time doctoral programme that offers research scholars opportunities for advanced studies and research in different areas of ‘management.’ The Programme aims to prepare research scholars for careers in teaching and research in management studies and in related disciplines, and for careers in the academic institutions and in other organizations that require advanced analytical and research capabilities. The program is also committed to educating scholars who will become leaders in their fields of research.

This initiative aims to create a space where the research scholars are inspired to experiment with novel ideas aided by one of the best research colloquia in the country. Being a younger IIM and very new in the area of research, the institute believes that this opportunity will further help in imbibing and cultivating a culture of research at their own institute. The interaction which the students of IIM Raipur have with the doyens of research and other fellow researchers at IIM Bangalore will help their young yet inquisitive minds to quench their thirst of knowledge and soak in the research based culture of an already set up senior IIM. The institute is also exploring similar initiative with IIM Calcutta.
