The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, IIT Bhilai and Government Engineering College (GEC), Raipur have come together to celebrate the 70th Independence Day for a fortnight starting from August 9 to 23.
The theme for the event is ‘Freedom fortnight,’ a IIM Press release informed.
A gamut of activities have been planned during this fortnight which covers a marathon namely Freedom Run, tree plantation drive and cleanliness drive.
Apart from this, there would be other exciting competitions like essay writing, elocution, patriotic songs, painting, skit competitions etc. and would offer a perfect blend of fun and frolic.
This is happening for the first time that Independence Day celebrations would go this long and would be jointly organised by three institutions, it informed.
Amid the growing concerns about the invasions of western culture among the youth of our country, events like this would go a long way in imbibing a sense of national pride and patriotism.
The celebrations would conclude on August 23 with mass national anthem singing and everyone taking pledge to serve the nation to the best of his or her ability.
The event is being organised followed by the directive from Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development.
The objective is to celebrate with a series of events for a fortnight to commemorate the 70th Independence Day.
