The feud between the two rival factions of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee took further ugly turn Thursday with former chief minister Ajit Jogi taking a dig on sitting president of CGPCC Nand Kumar Patel’s failure to put up a party candidate against the Bharatiya Janata Party nominee in the by-poll of corporator in Jashpur Nagar Palika.
In his letter to Patel, the former chief minister allegedly asked the Congress state president that if the party has no suitable candidate in sight for the by-poll, then with his (Patel’s) permission he would put up a suitable candidate against the BJP nominee. Due to the death of Shatrunjay Singh, son of Bilaspur MP Dilip Singh Judeo, 2 months back the corporator’s seat fell vacant, the by-poll for which is slated for May 24 and vote counting will be on May 26. last time also, the party had not fielded its candidate against Shatrunjay Singh in Nagar Palika poll.
Taking exception to the party’s failure to put up candidate against the nominee of Judeo, a bête noire of Jogi, second time, the former chief minister said that this should send wrong signal in the masses and therefore he asked the state party chief to allow him propose the candidate for the by-poll.
