If Cong forms Govt in C’garh, Maoist violence will return: Shah

Published on:

BJP National President Amit Shah on Friday said that if the Congress party comes to power in Chhattisgarh, Maoist violence would return ; whereas if the BJP retains power after Assembly polls, it will strive to drive away remaining Maoists from the State.

Addressing booth level workers here, Shah said the upcoming polls in the state would be fought by BJP under leadership of Dr Raman Singh.

The AICC President Rahul Gandhi should tell us under whose leadership will the Congress party contest polls in the State, he asked.

The BJP National President said that the even if AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi deploys his full party strength to win polls, it would not be possible for him to ensure victory in Chhattisgarh.

He said that the BJP wins polls on the basis of the efforts of its booth level workers and not through rallies, Shah said.

“The BJP is a party of workers and there is no dynastic rule. Anybody in the party can become Chief Minister or Prime Minister. The polls have come at a time when it will decide the fate of the nation. In 2019 there is also general election”, he said.

I challenge Rahul Gandhi to make it clear with whose leadership it will contest polls in Chhattisgarh. As far as we (BJP) are concerned, three times Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh who had led the party before and had worked for the welfare of the tribals will lead the party again in polls, Shah said.

There was three years of Congress rule in Chhattisgarh when poverty was rampant and Naxalism was at its peak, he said.

It was only during the BJP rule the development happened, Shah said.

Chief Minister Raman Singh in his address said that BJP's army of workers cannot be defeated by any party.

The Congress party does not have any issues to contest polls and its leader in Chhattisgarh is surrounded by controversies, he said.

We will accomplish the 65 plus target of seats to be won in Chhattisgarh set by the BJP National President, Singh said.

We have ensured development of Chhattisgarh on a different parameter, he said.
