Congress candidate from Korba Lok Sabha constituency Jyotsna Mahant has expressed confidence that she would certainly win the seat with the support of her husband, Speaker of Chhattisgarh state assembly Charandas Mahant.
Talking to media persons, she however conceded that there would be a tough fight as one of the political heavyweight and former chief minister Ajit Jogi of the JCC-J is also in the fray. The other contestant in the triangular fight is BJP’s Jyotinand Dubey.
Stating that Jogi was like her elder brother, Jyotsna Mahant said her husband’s support would ensure her victory.
Jyotsna also admitted that she was given the Congress ticket from the Korba constituency after her husband refused to contest the polls.
He didn’t want to betray the people of Sakti from where he was sent to the state assembly, she added.
She further expressed her gratitude towards Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Panchayat and Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo for extending their support in allocating the party ticket to her.
