A joint team of Income Tax Department sleuths from Raipur, Jabalpur (MP) and Bilaspur on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at the offices and residences of PWD contractors besides owners of a private power plant in the State.
The teams comprised more than 70 officials along with several police personnel who raided more than seven locations across the State including Bilaspur, Janjgir and Akaltara.
Tax evasion worth crores of rupees were reported to have been detected during the raid whereas the details of properties and assets would be provided after completion of raid within two or three days, official sources informed.
