House adjourned over employment issue

The Chhattisgarh Assembly was adjourned for five minutes on Monday after the Opposition sought a discussion on striking employees, delay in appointing teachers and police constables, unemployment and related issues on the fifth day of the winter session.

During Zero Hour, Dharamjeet Singh said 47 Employees Unions are staging strikes across the state. Due to the strike of Patwaris, the verification of land records of farmers had been affected and revenue related works have come to         standstill.

The government is least concerned. It should initiate talks with them, he said.

BJP's Shivratan Sharma sought a discussion on unemployment, non-regularization of the daily wagers as promised by the government, lack of promotions, time-pay scale and other facilities to employees and delay in appointment of police constables and teachers.

Ajay Chandrakar said the credibility of the government is at stake even as a High Court order is not being implemented. Narayan Chandel said most employees are on strike.

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said in the name of vote bank politics, promises were made. After the formation of the government and two years later, no steps have been taken. This has forced all the employees to go on strike.

With chaos prevailing in the House, the Chair adjourned business for five minutes after rejecting demands for an immediate discussion.
