A stream of burn injury victims arriving in the already crowded Burn Unit of the State’s largest Dr Ambedkar hospital is now making the authorities send them to other wards in the hospital. The burn victims are being shifted to the DP ward and other wards of the hospital, sources in the hospital said.
The summer heat and being injured is adding problem for the victims admitted in the non air conditioned wards even as out of the 32 burn victims currently admitted in the hospital with burn injuries, 20 are in the Burn Unit while 10 are in the DP ward and 2 in ward number 26.
The lack of sufficient beds in the hospital is adding pressure on the Burn Unit as a regular stream of burn victims are arriving not just from the city but also from the surrounding villages. The DP Ward of the hospital is devoid of any air cooler and a burn victim Mira Bai of Beergaon stated that her problems had been compounded by her bed being near a window with summer season heat blowing during the afternoon hours.
However, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the hospital Dr Baghel said that there had been a sudden spurt in the number of burn victims in the hospital recenly and necessary arrangements are being made to improve the situation.
